Tart Cherry Season

When I woke up this morning, I felt a reminder tingle from my right pinky finger that suggested today was the day for tart cherries at the market. I got there as soon as I could but there were only three pints left. So of course I bought them all. They are only ripe and available for about a week or two each summer. Around here, that is usually late June. It's so easy to lose our seasonal markers in this modern age of time passing digitally and produce passing between northern and southern hemispheres.    How lovely that the universe reminded me about my cherries.
